Read the settlement before you build
Start by checking Food, Gold, Faith, and Production. Look at what you currently hold and what the next action costs. A healthy-looking stockpile does not tell you whether the settlement can keep producing what it needs. Before choosing a building, identify the immediate problem you want it to solve: a resource shortage, a blocked expansion, or preparation for an upcoming demand.
Make one decision at a time
Building, resource management, and exploration are central to TownsFolk. For a first run, make a change and watch its result before committing to several more changes. Read the placement information shown by your version of the game. This guide does not assume that two buildings benefit each other simply because they are nearby, and it does not provide an untested adjacency multiplier.
Keep tribute in your plan
The kingdom expects tribute as your settlement develops. Treat the next displayed demand as part of your budget before spending on optional expansion. Reserving resources is a planning suggestion, not a claim that one fixed percentage or turn schedule works in every run. Use the amount and timing presented by the game.
Choose the right kind of practice
The official mobile description lists campaign, skirmish, puzzles, and weekly challenges. Begin with the tutorial, then use a mode whose objective you understand. After a setback, identify one decision to change next time rather than copying a long build order without knowing why it works. Mode access can differ by platform and purchase.
What players ask
What should I focus on first?
Read the resource counters, understand the objective, and check the next tribute demand before committing to expansion.
